Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP)
- In an effort to help Canadian businesses manage during these uncertain economic times, as part of Budget 2009, the federal government introduced the Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP).
- This program provides $5 billion in additional lending (loans and other forms of credit support and enhancements) to viable businesses through the Export Development Corporation (EDC) and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), in cooperation with private sector financial institutions such as
BMO Bank of Montreal.
- Any creditworthy Canadian business seeking financing to support its operations may apply for credit under the Program.
- BMO customers are encouraged to speak to their local BMO representative to discuss how this program may apply to them.
- In some instances clients may be referred directly to the EDC or the BDC.
- To work with the government in conjunction with the BDC and EDC to find solutions for eligible business customers who would otherwise have insufficient access to credit.
